Winter storm aftermath

Hi folks!
Well folks, we had a whooper of a snow storm. I returned home Friday around noon and it had just started to snow. By three p. m. it was bad slick roads, blowing, and drifting snow. All events were cancelled and schools let out early. So, I got the plow truck out Saturday morning, cleaned my drive out and started to town. I made it about a quarter of a mile…there was a snow drift five feet high a half a mile long. I couldnt push it. My neighbor has a John Deere with a bucket on the front. He broke the snow loose and I plowed thru it. Then I started plowing out my neighbors. I went over to where my son lives and plowed him and his neighbors out. We are a small community and neighbors help neighbors. Most of the time the farmers get to the roads way before the county plow trucks come thru. As I am not always home, I thank my neighbors and farmers for their help when I am gone. After several hours of plowing, I went home and watched TV the rest of the day. Oh yes, I was stuck in the snow several times!
Until next time be safe.

Winter Storm Warning

Hi folks!
Wel, I am home and the weather man is calling for a lot of snow. I had to get a windshield replaced on the drivers side, so the Cascadia is in the shop. It will be ready this morning. Stoops Freightliner get you in the shop as quickly as possible. Jeff Jacobs the service manger takes real good care of you.
Until next time be safe.

McCormick Place Convention Center, Chicago, IL

Hi Folks!
It’s been ten years since I’ve been to McCormick Place. Perkins just delivered over 50 loads to the car show. I am amazed that a company can organize this type of operation. The show broke at the Detroit Convention Center. The loads were staged at various places, and we drivers had to move the loads to Chicago. It takes a coordinator, dispatchers, and everyone working together to make this happen. I have delivered a lot of Ford trade shows with 5-10 loads, but i have never been on a detail of this magnitude. I am proud to have taken part in this, and I am proud of my company for the outstanding work. The Cascadia got plenty of looks and plenty of questions. I was glad to answer them.

Until next time, be safe!

Delivering to new schools

Hi folks!
You would think delivering to a new school would be half way easy. Wrong, I had a new school Monday in Michgan the only good thing the ground was froze.I had to drive around pipes sticking up out of the ground steel grates for drains.I was told please dont hit anything.I thought oh really.I thought this place isnt ready for freight yet pictures to follow. Everyone have a good day.
Untill next time be safe.

The Cascadia doing a great job

Hi folks!
Well it snowed and the road iced up this morning in west Hartford, Ct. But I got a reload yes I got a reload from East Longmeadow, Ma. Up North on I–91 onto a two lane never been on this road before. So when I arrived the shipper asked me is the roads bad, yes pretty slick out there. But I just traveled slow and easy with no problems. You see I have a Freightliner CASCADIA and it does a great job.
Until next time be safe.

Heading To West Hartford Ct.

Hi folks!
I am on the way to West Hartford, Ct. this is not my usual run. A lot cooler here on I80 than in the south. The traffic seems to be heavier here in Pa. I stopped at Snow Shoe, Pa. Very little snow but it sure was cold. Well, I guess you cant stay in one place all the time, even though I would like to. I have no idea where I will reload. I dont run in this area very much so I dont really know where we will reload.
Until next time be safe

Interview with Overdrive/Truckers News Editor.

Hi folks!
Monday 1/25 was a busy day for me. I loaded a car show in Memphis, TN. And then I stopped at the downtown T/A in Nashville, TN. where I had a meeting with Todd Dills, senior editor with Randall Reilly, Overdrive/Truckers news. It was a pleasure meeting Todd. I guess I kept Todd busy talking about my trucking experiences for two hours or more. The main topic was backing a tractor trailer, no problem for me and the Cascadia. I showed Todd how I backed my unit, after coffee we said good nite. It was a lot of fun. Thanks Todd.
Until next time be safe.
