1st Load with new Cascadia

Saturday, August 30, 2008

Left Noblesville, IN for New Orleans, LA and Fort Worth,TX, with a stop in Rockwall, TX.  The heavy raIns and winds from “Fay” were no problem.  Cascadia handled it well.  The 101 degree temp was not a problem with the cooling system in the truck.  The people are clearing out of New Orleans before it hits.

“Back home again in Indiana”  for Labor Day.  Have a nice holiday all.

homeward bound

Sunday, August 24, 2008

We drove about 500 miles toward home.  the hard part has been to figure out where all the wires are and what all the buttons and gadgets are for.  the head mechanic here at our terminal was a little confused as well. we finally figured out where to hook up the radio and how to run the bunk air without the key on.  jans biggests complaints are no mirrors  anywhere, she says even guys have to look in a mirrir once in a wile and the passenger seat does not recline.  all in all, the smooth ride has been apleasure. even bobtailing.

homeward bound

Sunday, August 24, 2008

We have been about 500 miles. We are having a great time. This DD15 is so smooth, I can drink my coffee without spilling it! Oh, yeah! Did I mention I am bobtailing. I have included some pictures of the scenery, but more then that I wanted to send pics of the important people that make life so much better…..mechanics, truckstop workers and “the behind the scenes people who makwe a difference.

Coming home with my new Cascadia.

Sunday, August 24, 2008

During the trip home to Indiana from North Carolina, I’ve learned that there are many people working behind the truck drivers to help them.  There are the truck stop workers (mechanics, waitresses, and the owners), truck dealers and manufacturers, office employees, dispatchers, the safety department, driving trainers, the terminal managers, and of course the company owner (who keeps everything running smoothly).

The first day we left N.C, we got to Pioneer, TN. Our next stop was Huntingsburg, IN. There, we stopped at Perkins’ shop, where all the employees were excited to see the new Cascadia. We took even more pictures. We also installed the communications system in the truck. Later on, we arrived in Noblesville, IN at the corporate office where office employees met us and were excited to see the Cascadia. They also had a chicken dinner prepared out of appreciation by one of the employees parents from N.C. There, we took even more pictures.

And then, my wife Jan and I went home. The Cascadia rode like a dream. The new DD15 had plenty of power. My first run in the new truck will be Monday, 8

Welcome

I’m excited to see directly how fuel efficient this truck is. It blew me away with its aerodynamics. I’m also looking forward to the power and performance of the DD15 engine.
