From HOT!!!!!!! To cool

Tuesday, June 30, 2009

Just a week ago, it was super hot in the south, 100 degrees or more. And it didnt get much cooler at nite as I was unloading  at  shopping malls. Now, over in the east its 74 degrees and nice.  I am still unloading at nite but its a whole lot cooler. It sure is nice to get back in the CASCADIA and enjoy the nice cool air when you’re hot and sweaty.

Doing a job you love doing

Wednesday, June 24, 2009

Doing a job you love doing ,well it doesnt happen very often . But delivering store fixtures at different stores and malls is  the best. The folks are glad to see you arrive with the fixtures. I  am in Lafayette La. delivering American Eagle tonite and driving the CASCADIA makes getting around the malls easier. The rack and pinion steering sure helps.

untill next time be safe

How Safe Is The Cab Of Your Truck

Monday, June 22, 2009

In the past few weeks I have came upon a couple of accidents. One in Indiana, the other in Ohio.  In both cases the windshield  was broken out. In one case, the drivers window  and windsheild was broken out and in both cases it was a one truck crash. There were personal items and things all over the ground,  like his microwave, TV, suitcase, shaving gear…I asked the police officer what happened that  all the things were thrown  all over the ground . He said”Well it must not have been tied down or he wouldnt have been hurt nearly as bad.”    So drivers lets check and see if there are some things in our cab that needs to be tied down. Have a good week and stay safe.

On Time Delivery And Pick Ups

Wednesday, June 17, 2009

The company that I am leased to Perkins Spec. Trans. hauls a lot store fixtures and office furniture and there is always a crew waiting. So its so nice not having to think about break downs. With the CASCADIA do the pre trip and go.When hauling time sensitive Freight you cant afford to be late, when a copany charges delay claims it can get costly. That is why with the CASCADIA no problems keep the left door shut and be on time every time. Till next time Be Safe.

State Truck Driving Competition on June 5-6

Sunday, June 7, 2009

The competition started Friday, June 5, at 3 pm at the Indiana State Fairgrounds with all the competitors picking their equipment. The written test began at 6 Friday evening.  It was relatively easy, and everyone did well on it.  On Saturday morning, we all arrived at the State Fairgrounds at 7 am.  We started the morning with the singing of the National Anthem by the Major of the Indiana State Police, then we started the competition. It was a very long day.  The course was set up like the Nationals, and was very difficult.

There were very few high scores.  Everybody ran about the same.  A friend of mine from Styline Company placed first in the twins category.  Another friend placed in 3-axle.

I answered a lot of questions about the Cascadia and the DD15. It sat on the course all day, and people from all over took pictures.  It also got some attention from the news media.  I was very proud to have been in the competition, and I was also proud of the Cascadia being the center of attention.

At the banquet Saturday night, they showed pictures of the drivers, all of the festivities, and some of the Cascadia.

I wish I could have placed, being that this was my last year for the competition, but it was still a lot of fun.
