Delivering in the Atlanta Georiga area

Thursday, July 16, 2009

I find delivering in the south and southeast the people are glad to see you and they are always glad you have there freight. Other places I have been sometimes it takes all day to get the freight off.But Perkins has  a lot of good accounts ,and with good accounts you have good people to work with. AS I have had todaywhen I get to the dock ,they are there ready to unload and I tkink them for that.Have a good dayand be safe till next time

Lets talk truck batteries

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

Recently I thought the starter motor was turning a little slow, now I have my batteries unbolted and cleaned every three months. In fact,  I cleaned them myself in May,so i stopped at a truck stop and had my batteries checked they all checked good. With one showing less amps than the rest, so I asked the technician what would cause that to happen. He replied a dirty cable  well I just cleaned them in May I told him. Makes no difference he remarked. The summer heat causes the batteries to heat up causing the cables to green up and not charge properly.  sure thing,  he unhooked the battery and it was dirty. So I guess we should check the batteries more often. Well what do you think?  until next time, be safe

I bought a gallon of washer fluid  called Mechanic Pride, and it messed up the windsheild I dont know what it contained it doesnt show to be made in the U.S.A. so if you buy fluid, be careful. Its very hard to get off and when it rains you cant see.

Well it happens that way sometimes

Peddle Run

Sunday, July 12, 2009

As of today 7/12 Ihave put off a total of 24 stops both deliveries and pick ups since 7/5 .It is my opinion that the CASCADIA has my job a lot eaiser with the rack and pinion steering the cutting radius is shorter .and getting parked in a truck stop is so much eaiser .Where the BIG HOODS cant get in the slot ,no problem with the CASCADIA. Some of the docks are very tight in Miami Fl. If you have ever delivered there you know what I mean. But I never had a problem, And the cab being air tight it holds the hot air out have a good week end and be safe

Trailer Wheel Chock

Saturday, July 11, 2009

Today I switched trailers , putting my empty into the dock. The shipping manager came out and looked at my trailer asking me do you always chock your trailer wheels. If I put a trailer to the dock I chock the wheels if there isnt a chock around I go inside and tell the manager or the shipper.I dont want a lift truck going in a dropped trailer without being chocked. Looking around i seen several trailers not chocked,so I chocked them what do you think. Untill next time be safe .

The State Of Florida

Thursday, July 9, 2009

Well its almost impossible to get a driver to go to Florida with one stop in July let alone ten.People think your crazy when you tell them ten deliveries. as a rule there is no backhaul and you have to drive back up north to get a load. But I have a good load back to Ohio it sure is hot here in Miami. A very nice day but hot I will finish unloading tomorrow and reload .Untill next time be safe and keep cool

He is sold on the CASCADIA now he is trying to sell Atlas. Bob was a o.o. and went on a company truck a few years ago being the only company driver Atlas has. Be Safe till next time.
