Saturday morning started out wet, and very cool. We thought the day was going to be a rain out. After a few cups of coffee, the rain stopped, and people started showing up.
It turned out to be a really good day. We were entertained by Joey Holiday and his entourage and two terrific motorcycle performers.
The ladies who sang with Joey were wonderful also. They knew some truck driving songs, and how to keep a crowd involved.
I lost count of all the drivers I saw checking out the Cascadia.
I’ve never entered a truck in a truck show, and that wasn’t initially the reason I was there. I was originally there to show off the Cascadia and let other drivers get a feel for it. At around 1:00, my arm was twisted into entering the Cascadia into the show. Since it was the only Cascadia there, and there were so many people stopping to stare, I thought, “What the heck? Why not?”
So Saturday morning, when they started handing out the prizes, the first plaque they handed out was for third place bobtail. When Vickie Holiday called my name to present the award, I was more than a little bit surprised. I was so proud of my truck. They way it looked made all the work I had put in well worth it.
I was invited back for next years Tennessee Truck Show (also to be held at Fitzgerald’s), and if everything goes as planned, I’ll be back.
Until next time,
Be safe,
Dick.
