I Am A Professional.

Tuesday, November 10, 2009

I have 46 years of experience driving a truck, and I have over four-and-a-half million safe driving miles, which is enough to get to the moon and back eight (and a half) times. I am courteous to other drivers, whether they are driving a car, truck, or semi. I do my best to yield to merging traffic on the interstate. I try very hard to obey all traffic laws, and I never deliver or pick up late. I am a prompt driver.

I never tailgate, and make sure to leave enough room in front of me to allow for other drivers’ mistakes. The Cascadia I drive has windows large enough to see well in the daytime, and the lights are good for me to see at night. I wear my uniform shirt, and even a tie on special occasions. I make sure I shower at least once a day.

When I can, I talk to groups of young people about the professional aspects of driving.

I keep calm under pressure, as I believe that to lose your cool is to lose everything. I work hard to fix the public idea that people have about truck drivers.

Until next time,
Be safe,
Dick

Triad Freightliner

Sunday, November 1, 2009

I stopped by Triad Freightliner in Greensboro, NC Thursday to have the Cascadia looked at.
I went to the service department, where I was cordially greeted. They were very nice people, and it was a very clean operation. There were excellent driver facilities, and I was even treated to lunch.
If you are ever in need of service or repair, I would suggest calling on Triad. They will take very good care of you.
Until next time, be safe,
Dick.

I met Joe Martin, creator of Truckercise, at the Convoy For A Cure. Joe asked me, when I met him, if I was a driver.
When I told him yes, he said, “Do you know that the truck you’re driving has a built in fitness center?”
Well, then I was confused, so he gave me a DVD to watch.
After we talked for a while, I told him I would try it out.
Having driven a truck for 45 years, I know just how hard it is to work out while you’re on the road, and I really think this would be a good investment. If you would like to purchase one, just go to Joe’s website, www.truckercise.net. It’s more than worth it.
Don’t forget to pretrip your body when you pretrip your truck!
Until next time, be safe.
Dick.

If you see somebody without a smile, hand them yours.
Til next time,
