FEBRUARY FURY

Friday, February 26, 2010

Hi folks!
This is the VISIBLE SNOWMAN, this is the third blizzard this month I am worn out! Where are you spring? I think its time to get rid of that little Rat Punxsutawney Phil. I feel sorry for people who have to deal with this stuff. The CASCADIA has handled this winter well. I really am not suprised. I might have some problems getting out of here today. Connecticut is not as bad as New York City, and Jersey, and Pennsylvania but I have to go through them to get going.
Till next time be safe. And I hope you are not in SNOW.

Delivering Red Lobster Statesville,NC.

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

Hello folks!
Well, its not the best nite to be unloading, rain and snow, cold wind. The job has to be done after the store closes so we got started at 11pm. It is a slow process one piece at a time. They use a bobcat on the big pcs. But they cant put the bobcat in the trailer, no dock. There are traffic islands, plants, trees, and light poles to work around. The CASCADIA made it a lot easier.
Until next time be safe.

It takes team work

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

Hi folks!
Sometimes when making deliveries a driver doesnt have all the equipment needed to do the job. This is what happened yesterday when I picked up my load. So I started making phone calls. Dispatch found a driver comming back from North Carolina so I got hold of him. He had the equipment I needed so we decided to meet at Charleston,Wv. Everthing went like clock work. I want to say “Thank You” to Jerry Spanbauer for helping me. I am glad to be in the CASCADIA to help me getting in the Red Lobster tonite.
Until next time be safe.

Health Awareness Walk

Friday, February 19, 2010

Hi folks!
Just a few words on our health; when our trucks need repair or something else we as drivers get it taken care of. When our bodies need some care we put off going to the doctor, I for one hate it. Well, I have put on a lot of weight and it is a lot easier to put on than take it off. And now our jobs as drivers depend on being healthy and in good shape. I started walking and trying to watch what I eat, taking the weight off is a long time affair but you keed to start somewhere. At Mid -America Trucking Show there is going to be a first annual 1.5 mile walk we can join in. For details and to register check out WWW.driverhealth.org. “This is a plea from driver to driver to get outside of your truck and work towards a healthier lifestyle”, said Linda Caffee professional driver and chairman of the Trucking Solution Health Group.
Until next time be safe

Snow Storm After Snow Storm

Monday, February 15, 2010

Hi folks!
Gee, it has been one hard winter. I was in the east coast blizzard last week. Got back to Indiana on Friday to deliver. I made the delivery and went home thinking I would take a load on Monday. Well I think I over did it last week. I have had a cold and cant seem to get over it. So I think I will try it tomorrow. If we can get out of the town we live in. The CASCADIA has done a terrific job this winter I have had no problems getting stuck or losing traction. This has been a blessing.
Until next time be safe.

Blizzard of 2010

Thursday, February 11, 2010

Hi folks!
Well , folks I have been in several bad storms. In 1978, of course…”The blizzard!” being the worst. We used to have reaL bad winters with lots of heavy snows. I ran several noreasters when I was delivering New York City. But what I have been in the last three days, BAD is not a good word. I really feel bad for the people living on the east coast. There is nothing a person can do, stay home and eat, I guess. I have seen so many wrecks I cant even remember. The worst being at the 105 mile marker on I 80 in Pennsylvania. The radio station said fifty car pile up and five tractor trailers. This by far is the worst storm I’ve been in.
Until next time be safe.

Dark Cloud

Wednesday, February 10, 2010

Hi folks!
Yes, I think a dark cloud is following me. The snow started last Friday and every where I go it seems to snow. I am here in Albany, New York and you guessed it, SNOW!!. I am lucky though, I am in the CASCADIA and it is doing a great job in holding the road. I feel safe in the Cascadia and that is a comforting thing. And the park smart is doing a great job in keeping the truck warm when I am parked.
I sure am looking forward to the Louisville Truck Show in March. Besides the show itsself, spring will be nigh.
Until next time be safe.

Winter storm aftermath

Sunday, February 7, 2010

Hi folks!
Well folks, we had a whooper of a snow storm. I returned home Friday around noon and it had just started to snow. By three p. m. it was bad slick roads, blowing, and drifting snow. All events were cancelled and schools let out early. So, I got the plow truck out Saturday morning, cleaned my drive out and started to town. I made it about a quarter of a mile…there was a snow drift five feet high a half a mile long. I couldnt push it. My neighbor has a John Deere with a bucket on the front. He broke the snow loose and I plowed thru it. Then I started plowing out my neighbors. I went over to where my son lives and plowed him and his neighbors out. We are a small community and neighbors help neighbors. Most of the time the farmers get to the roads way before the county plow trucks come thru. As I am not always home, I thank my neighbors and farmers for their help when I am gone. After several hours of plowing, I went home and watched TV the rest of the day. Oh yes, I was stuck in the snow several times!
Until next time be safe.
