Monteagle Truck Plaza

Wednesday, July 28, 2010

Hi Folks!

I stopped by  Monteagle Truck Stop for lunch today, and was told it is closing this Saturday. I sure hate to hear that it is closing.

I dont know for sure how long it has been open, but I know its been there for the past forty years. I think it was a 76 in the beginning but not sure.  It was a good place to eat. After the interstate opened it was about the only truck stop between Nashville,TN. and Chattanooga, TN. When  I would be comming out of Chattanooga I aways stopped and it would usually be full of drivers.

I will miss the old truck stop, but like about all the mom and pop stops are gone and it is to bad.

Until next time be safe.

Expediter Expo in Wilmington, Ohio

Sunday, July 25, 2010

Hi folks!

Henry Albert and I were at the Expediter Expo in Wilmington, Ohio Friday and Saturday. Even though it was really hot, we still had a good time. Many people were interested in the Cascadia and the DD15.  The Expediters were really nice, and we were welcomed with open arms. Friday and Saturday we were entertained with music by Joey Holiday and we also had Hors D’oeuvres. There were also a large amount of antique trucks. Special thankyou to all the Expediters and hopefully we will see you there next year.

Until next time be safe,

Dick

Delivering A Trade Show

Hi Folks!

I delivered a trade show in Oshkosh, WI Tuesday morning. They had thought that the Cascadia was meant to be a part of the show!

I was greeted by the guard when I got there, and he asked me if I were in it. I explained that no, I wasn’t, but that I was doing a delivery.

Members of the Air Force were there with their aircraft, and they came over to check out the Cascadia. I got a big thumbs up. The other two drivers that had come with me checked it out too.

Showing the new Blue Tec Technology has been fun. It seems that there is almost always somebody around with a camera or a question. They often want to know what the diesel exhaust fluid is, how it works, and how the regeneration works.

Sometimes even when I stop for fuel, there are people asking questions. It’s really fun to see how people come to see the truck. Hopefully, Henry and I will have a good turn out at Expediter’s Expo. This will be his second time ther and my first. We’re wishing for good weather.

I’ll keep you posted on how it turns out.

Until next time, be safe.

Home Time

Monday, July 19, 2010

Hi Folks!

Home time is great ,to be with family. Great  food and fun and this week end my granddaughter helped in giving the CASCADIA a good bath. A week in rain and sand in the outer banks of North Carolina makes a mess. Trying to keep as clean as possible I will be at the Expediters Expo in Wilmington, Ohio This week end looking  forward to seeing everyone.

Until next time be safe.

Waiting on a reload

Friday, July 16, 2010

Hi Folks!

Waiting on a reload in North Carolina, most of the time I dont have to wait on a load. Here lately things are a little slow but as a rule a driver can use this time to catch up on some work on there truck. The colors on the CASCADIA dont show dirt as bad as some others, dark colors seem to show dirt  more than light colors. The CASCADIA draws a lot of looks just about everywhere I stop I enjoy talking about truck. Yesterday in Haw River, NC. some folks on vacation took pics. Of the CASCADIA and standing by the truck its funny that the questions you get asked.

Until next time be safe.

Week End Lay-Over

Sunday, July 11, 2010

Hi Folks!

I loaded in Richmond, Va. Friday for delivery in Pittsburgh, Pa. on Monday. I dont like long lay-overs but a driver has to do them sometimes. Well the CASCADIA got a wash job here at the Travel Plaza. When you have a lot of time its best to make good use of it. Truck wash, laundry, catch up on a few things but its always nice to rest after a week of 100+ degrees weather. Its nice to have the CASCADIA  for comfort and the DD15 is preforming very well.

Until next time be safe.

Now Thats A Sweet Truck

Friday, July 9, 2010

Hi Folks!

I picked up a load at a plant in Athens, Alabama, the guard came out of his office and said now driver thats a sweet truck. I thinked him and gave him a pen and told him there are four of us and to look all of four trucks. He was interested in the DD15 and how it was doing, He owned a Detroit 318 at one time. I told him the DD15 is nothing like the 318 even though I liked the 318 myself. We had a little time to talk trucks as I love to do and I am looking forward to returning to Athens.

Until next time be safe.

Peddle Run

Wednesday, July 7, 2010

Hi Folks!

Well, summer is sure here 98 in Nashville, TN. Yesterday and it will be just as warm today. As a rule I enjoy a peddle run but boy is it ever hot to be handling office furniture. It sure is nice to get back in the CASCADIA where it is cool. Hot outside cool inside. Thank goodness for the great insulation package on the cascadia.

Until next time be safe.

US23 The Back Roads

Friday, July 2, 2010

Hello Folks!

I loaded at Royton,  GA. going to Columbus, OH. the best route was straight up US23 north thur South Carolina, North Carolina,Tennesee,Virginia,,Kentucky and Ohio.I thought the trip would never end. But it was a fun trip, flea markets a long the way. And when I would stop at a stop light ,sometimes folks would give me a thumbs up after looking at my truck. It has been years since I have been through these parts. There  were no truck stops I did find a couple of small fuel stops. The CASCADIA did a great job in the mountains 31,550 load 6.8 m.p.g. witch I think is great for all that stopping and starting. The traffic wasnt bad at all , I expected it to be bad . Well I made it home for the 4th,more next week.I hope everone has a safe and happy holiday.

Until next time be safe
