Showing the Cascadia in Anna, Texas

Sunday, February 26, 2012

Hi Folks!

What a beautiful week end it has been here in Texas. There are three truck stops here in Anna and I have spent two days here. Folks taking pictures drivers asking questions it has been fun talking to these folks. One driver said he is ready to buy he ask where to go I sent him to Dallas Freightliner. I have a camera on both sides of the hood installed by ASA Elkhart,IN. That is getting quite a bit of attention with the flat screen tv. This is my first time here. I guess I could have spent a day at each truck stop.

Until next time be safe.

Gap, Pennsylvania

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

Hi Folks!

I delivered in Parkesburg, Pa. Monday,  had some time to spend, so I stopped at the Universal Truck Stop and I am glad I did.  I was treated very well,  the folks at the truck stop was very interested in what I was doing.  The drivers most were company drivers but they were treating me like a movie star. Even asked for my autograph…haha!! A couple of the older drivers had seen the S.O.L. Team in Louisville,Ky. at the truck show.  I had a very good visit and the truck stop cafe was very good food.  I was in the middle of Amish and Dutch country in beautiful Lancaster country Pennsylvania.  I need to take my wife here to visit, she would live it!

Until next time be safe.

Showing the Cascadia in Pennsyvania.

Sunday, February 19, 2012

Hi Folks!

Well its been a couple of weeks since I have shown the Cascadia, so I stopped in Du Bouis, Pa. at the Freightliner dealership and at the Pilot.    Got to meet several drivers,  most were driving Century Class Freightliners. And  today I am at the Pilot in Duncannon, Pa.,  most all the drivers here are owner operators and are glad to talk about their business.   Things are looking up for the most part and many of the drivers are looking to upgrade.   So they like the Cascadia and the DD15 and the m. p. g. and  the room inside.   I met another Hiner company driver today and he likes the Cascadia.   So anyone interested in seeing the Cascadia, and you see me setting at a truck stop,  come on by and look the Cascadia over.

Until next time be safe.

Perkins Specialized has merged with Hiner Transport

Friday, February 17, 2012

Hi Folks!

As of 2/13/12 I leased on with Hiner Transport Huntington, Indiana… Perkins and Hiner will officially merge as of 2/24/12. This is really a new experience for me as I had been with Perkins for 30 years.   I am on my first run for Hiner,  it seems like the two companies operate about the same.  Some change, of course, BUT you can” teach this old dog new tricks”!   It will take some time to learn the system and paper work. I will let you all know how it goes.

Until next time be safe.

Hi Folks!
With me starting a new job tomorrow,my wife and I brought the grandsons home with us today, as I am going to have to start running hard again. We were able to get the boys away from the video games to play with a train set I got for Christmas. They were excited and so was I. We now have plans to expand the train and add a town, people and tunnel.
Until next time be safe

Perkins Specialized and Hiner Transport merge

Sunday, February 12, 2012

Hi Folks!

Monday, I start a new job, I will be leased to Hiner Transportation.  After 30 years with Perkins, it is hard to start a new job.  Hiner has accepted me, the Cascadia and the “sliceof truckerlife” program.   The transition has been a challenge.  I havent filled out an application in many years.   The Perkins company has been a part of my life for a long time.  Though I will miss the comfort of Perkins and the Perkins family, I will make the change to Hiner with anticipation.   The Cascadia will still remain the beautiful “red, white, and blue”, the only difference is the decal on the side.  Hope to see you “on the road”.

Until next time, be safe,

Dick

Super Bowl XLVI

Super Bowl XLVI by dick.mccorkle

Hi Folks!
This has been one sports spectacular week. I didn’t make the Super Bowl, but I did get some pictures. My daughter, Rachelle, worked security at the Super Bowl. There was live music. There were family activities. Indianapolis really worked hard to make this a special event. It has been said to be the one of the best Super Bowls. Georgia Street was closed. There were concessions down the yellow line. There were heaters, though the weather was nice, for people to stand under to warm up. There were t.v. screens mounted in various locations, on buildings and in the middle of the street. Thursday they honored several military heros. As of right now, I can’t tell you who has won the Super Bowl.

Until next time, be safe..       Dick

Extravaganza Sports Weekend

Sunday, February 5, 2012

Hi Folks!  We started Friday night with the “Superbowl” bash in Greenfield, IN.  The building was originally a Masonic lodge.  The windows were of leaded stained glass and the wood was absolutely ornate and beautiful. There were three floors of entertainment, for every age;  Kevin Stonerock was singing in “Neal Diamond” style, balloons and face painting, wine and beer tasting, and on the 3rd floor was the famous, “Dr Rock and the Rollers” (a fifties band). Our daughter, Rachelle and our daughter-in-law, Emily were the “doowop” girls in the band.  It was a lot of fun.  Then, Saturday morning we went to the “Hoosier gym”(where the movie Hoosiers was filmed with Gene Hackman) to watch our grandsons play basketball.   The gym has become a museum displaying artifacts from the movie and past school teams.  This happens to be my wife’s old school gym.  I can remember coming to this gym and watch the games.  My grandsons can now tell their granchildren that they played basketball in the old “Hoosier gym”.

Until next time, be safe.
