Wet Day in North Carolina.

Hi Folks!

Upon leaving Greensboro, NC.heading to South Hill, VA. to load for Winchester, VA. for delivery on Thursday morning. I had a good visit with Triad Freightliner of Greensboro. Meeting several techs in the service dept. and in the parts dept. Meeting several drivers in the lounge we talked about the Cascadia everyone likes the cascadia. The dealership is avery clean shop and the lounge is new with showers for drivers. I enjoyed my stay at the Triad shop.

Until next time be safe.

A Little BIT OF Winter Last Week.

Hi Folks!

Leaving home on New Years day was not easy,  but I had to deliver on Janurary 2.  On my way to Youngstown, Ohio,  the wind was very bad  but the Cascadia handled very well with no problem. After arriving at the store where I was to deliver on Monday,  I went to dinner and did some paper work,  then off to bed.  It was very comfortable in the Cascadia,  as I woke up and got dressed, I looked outside… there was snow on the hood of my truck and on the ground.   After I got empty,  I started to Grand Rapids, Michigan,  about 350 miles,  and it was windy and snow all the way.   Now,  the Cascadia was doing a great job,  as several trucks were blown off the road.  After loading in Grand Rapids,  I started to Kentucky. The weather kept getting better the further south I went.  After reloading in Bowling Green, Kentucky,  to  Indiana to deliver on Thursday morning,  the weather was great!  And on Friday,  it was 62 degrees.  I hope this is all the SNOW I see this winter.  I can dream, can’t I?

Until next time be safe.

Hi Folks!  While delivering in Lebonon, IN, yeaterday, I had the pleasure  of meeting driver, Maxie Ball…and the receiving clerk.  Maxie and the clerk were very interested in the Cascadia.  Maxie was very surprised to learn that the Cascadia gets 7.4 mpg as he only gets 6.0 mpg.  They really like the aerodynamic design of the Cascadia, and the patriotic wrap.  The red, white and blue atrracts people, then I get to show off the dynamics.  I enjoyed the conversation with the gentlemen…having given them a card and pen.  They plan on going to the “sliceoftruckerlife.com” website to ckeck out my site as well as Henry Albert’s, since he is getting high 8′s mpg.
Until next time, be safe,
Dick

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hi Folks!

Well, it’s 6 hours till the NEW YEAR begins.  I want to take this time and tell all my family and friends to have a very HAPPY NEW YEAR.  2011 has been a fun year doing truck shows and showing the CASCADIA at truck stops and various other places and events.  Reflecting on the past year, I can honestly say, I have been very blessed. It has been fun working with all the Freightliner people, and especially Henry and Gina.   My wish is that 2012 be as rewarding as 2011 has been.

Until next time, be safe.

Time well spent

Hi Folks!

After spending some time off for Christmas, it was time to return to work.  I loaded Tuesday for Louisiana and Alabama,  having some free time,  I visited several truck stops along the way.  I talked to so many drivers.  Most of them were happy to talk about the Cascadia and take a look inside and out.  They would get inside,  take a look and  see how quiet  the DD15 really is  and the bigger entrance doors.  I answered quite a few questions,  giving the drivers pens and cards.  I met a lady driver,  Carol James,  who has been driving for 40 years and Freightliner has been a big part of her success,  having owned one for 20 years.  Good luck,  Carol!

Until next time be safe.

A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS

Hi Folks!

I want to wish all a very Merry Christmas.

Home for the Christmas Holiday

Hi Folks!

It sure has been a great year driving the Cascadia. Coming in off the road for Christmas, seeing all the Christmas decorations, wrapping presents, eating cookies and candy,  it has been fun …even  with the hustle and bustle at the malls/stores.  The best part of the whole thing is shopping with my family and spending time. Mason, my 9 yr old grandson, helped me put up the tree…we will get a real one next year, son.   That is what it is all about.  Despite having to fix the lights outside,  that burned out (twice), the lights all around the house are beautiful.  Lets not forget the real reason for this season…the birth of HIS son. Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and be safe in your travels.

Until next time be safe.

Delivering- backed in on wrong side of road

Hi Folks!
I delivered Holiday Inn,  Daytona Beach, Florida on Monday.  The weather was warm but raining by the buckets.  The Folks were glad to see me.  They didnt know what to expect with the weather as it was.   The folks doing the receiving were from Atlanta, Georga,  they really didn ‘t know how we were going to get the load off in the rain.  They were worried about getting their freight wet… so I looked it over…” lets back in under the roof out front”, I said to them,  ” if you are receiving through the front door”.  Well,  to get this done,  I had to turn around in the street, with the crew blocking traffic driving south on the north bound lanes and back the truck in under the roof.  Delivering freight is not always an easy task, but we usually figure it out.  All went well,  I got the load off in the dry, and  they were happy and so was I.   Not all deliveries are easy with out a dock as you can see.
Until next time be safe.
