STARTING A NEW YEAR

Tuesday, January 5, 2010

I left out today on my regular run from Charlotte, NC to Laredo, TX. This is officially my first trip out for the new 2010 year. Again, I enjoyed the holiday season and catching up with family and friends.

This yearwill bring some changes to our Slice of Trucker Life Program. Currently, me and my fellow drivers have been working with our local Freightliner dealers on ordering our new 2010 Cascadia trucks. The trucks will include the latest  Blue Tec SCR Technology. I look forward to spring and receiving my new Cascadia. I  am excited about testing the efficiency of this new truck.

Another change to our program as you know, we are adding another driver. I hope if you are interested that you have submitted your information as the contest ended on December 31, 2009. Good luck to all who entered and may the best driver win! I look forward to meeting our new  addition to the team.

This year, I look forward to the many venues in which I will participate for the Slice of Trucker Life Program. I enjoyed my time last year and hope this year brings many new adventures as well. I enjoy meeting new drivers and sharing my knowledge about the Cascadia. In march, the Mid-Amercia Truck show will be here before we know it. Hope everyone is getting prepared to attend this year.

Let us all count our blessings and look forward to a year of hope and prosperity. Best wishes  in 2010 to all the drivers out on the road and for their families back home who support them each day.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Friday, January 1, 2010

IMG_0498-1Hello to all!

I wanted to send a big Happy New Year to everyone. I have been home enjoying my family and friends. We have had a wonderful Christmas and New Year celebration at my house.

I had the chance to travel to Pennsylvania to visit some family members. On my way up to PA, I remembered some neat places where I used to stop  during my dedicated route along the east coast.Whites Truck Stop at exit 205, Raphine, VA. This place has an awesome gun collection worth your stopping to see. The John Wayne Truck Wash and Chrome Shop at exit 5 I-81, Green Castle, PA. It’s been awhile, but they had always done an excellent job on my truck washes. Finally, I had the opportunity to take my son to Jennies Diner in Ronks, PA for dinner. He told me how hungry he was one evening and I knew the perfect place to fill his fifteen year old stomache. This place dishes up a heaping serving per person. It’s way more than anybody can eat in one sitting. Their slogan is: If you leave hungry, it’s your fault. My son ordered the hot roast beef sandwich, mashed pot’s w/gravy. I selected chicken, mashed pot’s and lima beans. The food was delicious and we were stuffed when we left. If you have a big appetite, Jennies is definately the place to stop.

While in PA, I enjoyed visiting friends and family. I allowed my son to drive on his learner permit from Charlotte, NC to Pennsylvania. He did really well with his driving. We made it home safely just in time to celebrate the New Year. We had some friends come over  to celebrate . We rang in 2010 with great food, fireworks and guitar hero. “Good times”…

Time has gone by quickly during my two week vacation. I sure have enjoyed some time off. I plan to return to work next week. Until then… be safe,

Henry
