I Should Have Known Better

Good morning everyone,
I should have known better than to have put off replacing the windshield on my Cascadia. I had a small crack below the wiper blades and didn’t  think it would get worse. To my surprise, over the weekend the crack became larger as it spit halfway across the windshield. The crack came from a stone thrown from a truck which was transporting a mobile home. the truck ran onto the shoulder of the road throwing a large number of stones in front of me. One was large enough to make a nice size crack in my windshield.

On Monday, I was able to get the windshield replaced at Freightliner of Charlotte. Kevin Digley, the shop manager was able to accommodate me with  an early appt. this morning and my windshield was repaired in less than two hours. The repair was done by Mike Tallent.

The repair was made easy by the roped in windshield design of the Cascadia. I was quickly on my way to Charlotte, NC to pick up my load. Thanks to the folks at Freightliner Charlotte.

    Hi Henry,

I don’t think your little blue truck on the map is working correctly. From day to day it doesn’t seem to move. I don’t think Dick’s little green truck is working properly either.

I guess the good news is the windshield is fairly easy to replace. Bad news is you had to replace it. It sounds like Freightliner had preventative maintenance and repairs in mind when they designed the truck. More than I can say for Ford. Although my personal vehicles aren’t commercial trucks, repairs seem to be very costly due to labor which I attribute to poor initial design.

Stay safe and keep blogging. I really enjoy reading and following all three of you guys.

    Craig,
It’s good to hear from you again. The windshield was an easy fix. I am sure glad tha Freightliner went back to the roped in seal on the Cascadia. I just replaced the passenger side glass on my old Century Class Freightliner last weekend and it was a simple fix as well. And you are right on the little blue truck not working properly. I will let the people at corporate know about that tomorrow.
    Thanks,
    Henry
