“it’s that time of year”

Wednesday, November 26, 2008

hello everyone, i hope you all had a safe and profitable week. myself i’m getting ready for the holiday’s trying to get all my things in order such as winterizing the truck, and the house. i have been working on my finances for a couple of months so i can take as much time off as i want to and not put myself in a financial strain. i try and take care of everything when i do take off. especially when it comes to the truck, with oil changes and any problems that might have developed recently. i have had issues with my fuel mileage as of late and Detroit wants to do some down loads to find out why. i will keep you all posted on what they find if anything. at any rate that is a blog for an other day. you all have a safe and happy thanksgiving!!!!

WINDY, WINDY!!!!

Monday, November 17, 2008

hello everyone, i hope you all had a safe and profitable weekend. if you were like me, and unfortunate enough to hit all that wind heading east and west, unless of course you were lucky to be going south!! at any rate i was not so lucky, i’m guessing about a steady 25- 30 mph wind. i have not seen wind like that for a while, a couple months any way. but i was very impressed with the way the truck handled. i’m not sure if it’s the rack-n-pinion steering or the way they have the cab set up or maybe the width of the cab. but the handling was just rock solid!! now i’m not saying it didn’t blow me around a little like it did everybody else, but it just felt stable. even when i went to bed that night i intentionally parked east and west, to see what it would feel like in the bunk with that much wind. the next mourning when i got up, i had actually thought the wind had stopped because i didn’t hear or feel any movement!!! i had thought good deal the wind quit, i might get some good fuel mileage now! but when i opened the curtains and saw the wind still blowing, needless to say i was very disappointed to have to deal with it again for another day. as i drove on that day feeling down. i was thinking in my old truck it would have been rocking so bad i don’t know if i could have gotten any sleep that night at all. not to mention the big fuel loss i would have suffered. let’s see what this baby will do in the snow!!! that might be interesting, but i will report back and let u all know how it does. until next time be safe and profitable.

“busy busy busy”

Monday, November 10, 2008

hello everyone, i hope you all have had a safe and profitable week!! i’m sure you all have had a week like mine, no matter what i did i was always one step behind. i was behind in my paper work, computer work, home work, and what ever “work” you can fit in there. it wasn’t that i was slow or goofed off, just seemed to be behind. when i did get by the house the hot water heater went out!!! i did get it fixed and now have hot water:) like i said my paper work fell behind which surprised me with all the room the cascadia has. i can do my computer work and do my printing without any problem. i usually have paper spread out all over the place just to see what i have. well this is a new week with new adventures to pursue. be safe and profitable until next time.

“finally a good nights sleep”

Sunday, November 2, 2008

hello everyone, i finally got myself a good nights sleep, it’s been a while. with a new truck and all. i was so use to my old truck it has been a little rough. my old w900 was a little more restrictive than this cascadia. i remember having to duck or grab hold of something usually a shelf or side wall or anything to keep myself from banging my head on another part of the bunk!! i can actually stretch out now and get the joints working again. maybe i should be mad at freightliner for making this truck some 20 years to late, maybe i would’nt have all these bumps, bruises and stiff joints i have now!! seriously i can now get out of bed and stretch, not only frontward but backward, and sideways with out hitting anything to restrict my movements. i guess i was so used to being restricted it’s like an animal being let out of a gage for the first time, they really dont know what to do. let me tell you the feeling is great!!! the old ways are starting to subside and new ways are emerging. with so much room in this truck it feels like a "real" bedroom. even with my wife with me, and i know what bed hog she is :) , the bed is still plenty big enough. the hardest thing to get use to is how wide the truck is. you know how you have a certain spot on the road and you are right there on the white line, well what i had to do was adjust my spot. my spot on the road was so far right that i had to move my spot a little to the left. i actually was driving on the shoulder!! sometimes i still have to remind myself to move left. if you happen to see this red cascadia running down the road, and a little on the shoulder holler at me on the c.b. to tell me to move back over to the left and stay off the shoulder i’m kicking up to much junk!! you all be safe and i’ll check back later.
