“what would you do?”

Friday, January 30, 2009

hello everyone, i hope you were all safe and profitable this week!! i have a question for you all just to see what you would do. i’ll set the stage for you. i was in cheyenne wy this week had to deliver to a wherehouse there. I-80 was closed west of cheyenne up over sherman and I-25 was closed north of cheyenne not because of snow fall but because of blowing snow the wind was blowing according to the weather report between 50+55 mph. it was bitter cold and with the wind chill down around -10 to-20 it made it down right miserable. no place to park at any of the truckstops and not wanting to go to far empty with the wind and blowing snow. so i decided to park on the side of the street, now my truck is equiped with an hvac system that circulates the water thru out the block and keeps it warm. however it does nothing for the fuel!! with ulsd, reports say it should not gel up but would you take the chance? would you turn your truck off and save the fuel or would you keep it running? keep in mind there are’nt any repair shops and no place to get warm if it does. how far do you push the limits? please leave me a comment and let me know what you would do. i will post all your comments. thanks and be safe until next time.

hello, once again everyone. i hope you all were safe and profitable this week. i’m getting loaded again this afternoon and headed back east. it looks like a pretty good run, but we will wait and see. the truck seems to be getting better and better the more miles i put on it. the fuel mileage is going up and the pulling power seems to be getting stronger as well. it seems to that i cant put into words how strongly i feel about this set up it’s simply amazing. i will be looking for all of you at the T+A truckstop in roanoke va. on saturday jan.24. exit 150. lets hope for nice day and be able to set up outside with the truck and my little side kick spencer, he likes to do most of the talking. by the way he is a miniature schnauzer and is very vocal. if you dont get a chance to catch me at the T+A you can all ways comment right here on my blog, to ask your questions. i do read all comments that come in and try to answer them the best i can. until i see you on saturday you all be safe out there.

“thank you tulsa freightliner”

Friday, January 16, 2009

hello everyone, i hope you have been safe and profitable. i did my first ever personal appearance yesterday at tulsa freightliner. i would like to say thank you to all that made me feel like one of the crew, the experience was one i won’t soon forget. especially to kim, brady, and jim they didn’t make me feel out of place and to don freeman the g.m. that made room for me on a very short notice. i didn’t have a lot of traffic but a lot of good questions. they all wanted to know about the dd15 if it was everything they have heard, and was the cascadia as roomy and quite like the salesman says. i had to answer truthfully by saying yes on both and showed them by letting them look inside my truck. that spoke for it’s self. the most asked question was ” what am i selling?” i want everyone to know that I’m not selling you anything, just promoting the website and to answer questions you might have on the cascadia and the detroit dd15. myself and the other two drivers are truck drivers first and foremost. we pick up our loads and deliver them just like you do. i try and make myself available to you so i hopefully can tell you my experience with this truck. i loved meeting all the drivers that stopped by to chat and swapped a few stories. it was a nice time and i enjoyed it. the weather might have been a factor for such a slow day, wasn’t very warm at all. i plan on doing another one this month yet. i will let you all know when and where as soon as i can. i hope you all have been able to listen to the radio pod cast on the midnight trucking radio show. you can down load it just over to the left of this blog, just click on it to listen. also listen for us on the kevin rutherford show that will be coming up real soon. once again if you have any questions or comments please do so by just clicking on the word comment. i will be glad to post any questions or comments ( within reason) that you might have for all to see and read. maybe we all can learn from it. goodbye for now, you all be safe and profitable.

” back to work”

Wednesday, January 7, 2009

hello everyone, it’s my first run of the new year, and what a run it is. i don’t get to go to Florida very often, but it sure was nice to get this one. the weather is just great down here, warm and sunny. but in order to get here i had to run thru a little ice, sleet, and rain. as usual the cascadia handled perfect. when i weighed my truck after getting loaded in tulsa, my scale ticket read 78900 with half tanks of fuel and still got 5.87 mpg running 68-70 miles per hour. with winter fuel and all the weather i think that is great!! looking forward to the new year, you can look for all the “slice of trucker life” drivers at some truckstops along the way, i will try and give you all a heads up on which truckstops i will be at, just keep an eye on this website.so you can look at my truck and ask me questions in person and of course you can always comment on this website and i will always answer you!! until next time be safe and profitable.

“HAPPY NEW YEAR”

Friday, January 2, 2009

hello and happy new year everyone!! i am still taking a little extra time off this year so i should be back up and rolling again on the 5th of jan. 09. in the mean time i always like to reflect on the pass year. not just on my success’s but on the things i didn’t do as well to see where i went wrong and how to handle that a little better next time. i guess you could say i try and learn from my past. i really didn’t realize i was doing that until recently. so that is why i take such along christmas break to clear last years stuff and be ready for up and coming year. until then you all be safe and profitable.
