That fuel mileage doesn’t seem that good. What other fuel mileage have you achieved with this truck. I am driving a 2006 Western Star with 14L Detroit pulling flatbed trailer running 78,000 lbs. both directions Seattle Wa. to OH. and KY avg mpg 7 May to Dec and 6.18 Jan to April but I was thinking of a new truck but need better MPG than I am getting now.

hey mel, i will answer you questions, but you have to answer mine o.k.? i know you say you are loaded with 78,000 lbs. both ways, but how much empty miles are you running? what speed are you running to get your 7 mpg.? is that figure coming off of the ecm? or are you doing it off of your fuel receipts? now for your questions, you should know that i pull a reefer so i am heavy most of the time also, mostly 72,000 lbs.and up. so we match up there, i dont have a lot of dead head maybe on average 100 miles, not to say there are times i get more but. i came out of a kw w900l into this truck and for me to test this truck i had to drive it the same way i did my kw which means about 70 to 72 mph. there for i could give an accurate assessment from one truck to another. now when i first got the truck i got 6.75 mpg not bad rite out of the box, then winter blend came in and we all know what that does to the fuel mileage. at present i have 58,000 miles on the truck and it seems to be getting better fuel mileage and the DD15 is getting stronger. i anticipate 6.75 to 7.00 mpg this summer. and one more thing i am not a sales man i am a driver just like you are. i dont and will not sell you anything, all i can give you is the facts as i know them. if your numbers are true then, i would not buy a new truck either. thanks for checking out the wedsite and hope to hear from you again. just remember be safe.
