“what would you do?”

hello everyone, i hope you were all safe and profitable this week!! i have a question for you all just to see what you would do. i’ll set the stage for you. i was in cheyenne wy this week had to deliver to a wherehouse there. I-80 was closed west of cheyenne up over sherman and I-25 was closed north of cheyenne not because of snow fall but because of blowing snow the wind was blowing according to the weather report between 50+55 mph. it was bitter cold and with the wind chill down around -10 to-20 it made it down right miserable. no place to park at any of the truckstops and not wanting to go to far empty with the wind and blowing snow. so i decided to park on the side of the street, now my truck is equiped with an hvac system that circulates the water thru out the block and keeps it warm. however it does nothing for the fuel!! with ulsd, reports say it should not gel up but would you take the chance? would you turn your truck off and save the fuel or would you keep it running? keep in mind there are’nt any repair shops and no place to get warm if it does. how far do you push the limits? please leave me a comment and let me know what you would do. i will post all your comments. thanks and be safe until next time.

hello wayne, that sure sounds like a good idea, but i am supposed to be testing this truck out. to push the limits, but how far do you push? stay tuned for the answer.

  8. Kurt Grote Says:

thanks for comment dick. however the detroit people say that ulsd should not gell, just like the people from howell’s do. i guess the question comes down to who do you trust more. but i will not leave you in suspense to much longer so check back in few days.

  9. Henry Albert Says:

I would shut it off . The coldest that I have tested it to was -17 degrees without wind chill . The truck started just fine . However I was next to a warm warehouse . So if there had been a problem there was shelter for me to seek refuge . Good luck Kurt .
