“still amazed”

Sunday, February 22, 2009

hello once again everyone. just as the title says I’m still amazed at this truck!! the more i drive this truck the more i enjoy it. to be able to pick this truck apart like no other i have driven, to be able to look and talk to the engineers that have built this truck it still fascinates me, the roominess, the quietness, and power of the DD15is very impressive. this last run i had i will share with you. i don,t know about you but in California i don’t speed much however, i came out of sparks nv., had a load to pick up in Yuba City ca., it was a load of prunes, going in to ar. i loaded 18 bins my weight was 76260 lbs. not an overly heavy load but a nice load. i do run slower in ca,. but once i hit the az state line it’s up to operating speed at around 67-70 miles per hour up and over the Rockies. when i hit the ok tx state line my fuel mileage was still 7 mpg!!! i will let you do the math on this one. i had fueled up in sparks nv,. my odometer read 69911. my next fill up was in Tucumcari nm,. my odometer read 71426 and i used 217 gals. of ulsd. what kind of number did you come up with? it stayed like this until i came into Oklahoma and ran into a wind storm of wind storms. we had gusts of over 55 mph. coming from the north,by the time i got into okc,. my mileage had dropped about .2 tenths of a gal. which is not very bad at all!!!  even tho the wind was bad and strong, i did not feel i was out of control of the truck. it handled the wind very nicely. it held the road very well, not to say i didn’t feel it but i liked the way it felt with all that wind, and the fuel mileage?? i can’t hardly wait until we get are summer blend of fuel, then we will see what the fuel mileage is. you all be safe and have a great week.

“plant tour”

Saturday, February 14, 2009

hello everyone, i hope all is well with you all. on Thursday 02/12/09 i happened to be delivering in warren Michigan. i got the chance to go by the Detroit diesel plant, and what a plant it is!!! i had a great time, thanks to Miguel Soetaert, and Pam my tour guide for the day. now she isn’t just a tour guide this girl knows her stuff!!! she is very knowledgeable with the whole plant. myself having a machinist background she showed me some machines i thought could not do what they were doing!!! you would have to go on a plant tour yourself to see. what an amazing plant, everyone one i did meet was very nice and courteous. i would like to thank everyone there for a great experience. i am planning another trip back very soon. once again thanks everyone for a great time.  see you all real soon!!!!

“what did i do?”

Wednesday, February 4, 2009

hello everyone, well it’s time that i tell you what i did in the snow in wy. I DID NOT SHUT MY TRUCK OFF. that’s right i chickened out and did not take the chance on turning off my truck. i felt it best to spend the fuel and idle my truck. the fuel is not guaranteed meaning there are so many different manufacturers that nothing is very consistence, and i had not treated it either. after talking with engine people they said if it got any colder than they would have added some additives to the fuel. now here is my next question how often do you check your tires? i don’t mean just thump your tires but put a tire cage on them. and do you have a good tire cage or a cheap one? what pressures do you run? please leave a comment this one seemed to work out pretty well. i will post your remarks and made be learn something in the process. i will give you my pressures in a couple of days. until then all of you be safe!!
