“dog days of summer”

Sunday, July 26, 2009

hello everyone, is this the dog days of summer? not a pun to my traveling companion spencer. these are the days that i appreciate my truck the most! it’s hot out and not much happening. just watching out for the occasional 4 wheeler in a hurry,( i’ll catch him when he stops and fuels.) just out here doing my job. i catch myself thinking of all the things that most of us do anyway to make sure our trucks run at the most optimum performance possible. these are the days i think we all remember. doing our check lists in our head over and over again to make sure we didn’t forget anything. i have even bought myself a digital recorder so when i am driving i can make myself a verbal note of the things i need to do and not forget them. i grant you that with this cascadia my maintenance has been minimal. however the thought still runs through my head did i do or should i have done anything different? i guess the bottom line here is confidence. how confident are you that you did everything you are supposed to? it was hot in las vegas today i’ll deliver in the a.m. and then head for riverside ca. for tomorrow night. it should be warm going across the desert, but i do have confidence that the cascadia and dd-15 will preform flawlessly on my way. i have confidence that tomorrow will be just as rewarding as it was today. tomorrow brings another adventure for me and spencer. an adventure i look forward to, because each day i am away from home i take as an adventure. tomorrow will be the heat, (spencer wont like going out on the hot ground tender foot you know) and then the ocean lol what a deal!! i could start labeling this kurt and spencers big adventure!! dont forget the great american truck show is coming up in dallas tx., i hope to see you all there until the next adventure :) you all be safe!!  kurt…and spencer

“hot temps”

Friday, July 17, 2009

hello everyone, well it’s summertime and if you have’nt noticed the temperature is on the rise. i had a question on one of my blogs the other day, it was from tom waites it read with the temp in the desert so hot how cool does the cascadia keep the cab? today coming across the desert from needles to barstow in needles it was 120 and closer to barstow it was 106.

because of the great view from the front with all the windows it is very difficult to cool that much glass. however my a/c was working great!!!

i had the fan up at about #6 and all the vents turned directly on me it seemed to keep it cool enough for me and spencer. but i would not suggest holding my hand on the windows for very long i’m sure you would end up with a blister or two. i hope you all stay cool and have those a/c’s checked out!!!

“needed time off”

Tuesday, July 7, 2009

hello everyone, i took a couple of days off last week. i got a lot of things done while i was off. not getting home every week things start to look bad!! but not anymore:) the one draw back to taking time off you are out of the loop. i don’t know about all of you but when i get home i don’t even think about the truck or trucking for that matter. so getting back into the swing of things tend to be a little trying. i can leave home knowing and feeling good about what i got done. so my first load out will be from noel mo. to riverside ca. that should get me back on track. until next time!!
